Deanna: Bridal Session

I've been wanting to, for a while now, take more bridal only sessions.  I think this is mostly because I want to get back into my wedding dress and get photos taken at the family barn/farm in Michigan.  Bridal sessions can happen at various times.  Some women will get dressed up in their wedding dress before the wedding date and take photos that will not be seen to the public until after the wedding, some might ask for a handful of bride only photos on the wedding day (which I like to make sure to capture anyways on the day of), and some crave to get back into their dress after the wedding is done.

I love to work with individuals for portraits that represent who they are, which is why I think I love senior photos so much.  The idea keep coming to me to put together bridal portraits, especially for the fun-loving bride who would like to dress-up in the gown that made them feel beautiful on their wedding day.  Most people talk about the dress that they wear: sometimes there is meaning, sometimes it's all about saying "yes" to the dress, sometimes women try it on and start crying because that's "the one" that they had dreamed of so they just knew it was perfect.  For whatever the reason your dress became your dress for your wedding day, let's not just wear them once, ladies.

I put a question/shout out on my Facebook page a couple o f months ago, wondering if anyone has ever thought about putting on their dress again and if photos in their dress would be something of interest.  I was not sure how many people would consider this or would like to make this a photo shoot.  Deanna reached out to me after that post, and I was ecstatic for a couple of reasons.  I had shot her and Ryan's wedding, and she is absolutely the sweetest.  I adore her and her family, and I was happy to have my first bridal portrait client someone I knew and someone who is just plain a beautiful person, on the inside and out.  In addition to this, she had a gorgeous dress that I was excited to see again.

For this session, we met at the Starsmore Nature Center, right at the foot of Cheyenne Canyon in Colorado Springs.  This is one of m y favorite natural locations (besides the iconic red rocks) because of the variety of trees, plants, logs to sit on  a stone bridge, and the creek.  All of this was available to us the night of the session, and Deanna was up for anything.  She looked just as gorgeous as the day she got married.  We had a cloudy sky, a mostly empty nature center, and all the time needed to capture these beautiful photos.

If you or anyone you know might be interested in putting on your wedding dress again, let's connect!  I have some more ideas of places that we could go in Colorado.  We can take our time, have fun, and celebrate you in a dress that has so much meaning.  Let's create some magic!
